In addition to a dynamic two day conference programme there were special events and social occasions for networking in the wonderful setting of the historic Italian city of Bologna.

In the heart of the city, overlooking one of the most stunning piazzas in the world, the Re Enzo Palace highlights Bologna’s ancient architecture. This was the venue for THE WORLD FORUM for Direct Investment 2007 and the welcome cocktail reception.

The welcome cocktail reception was held in association with the Biografilm Festival 2007, which brings together international film-makers and performers, showcasing a selection of recent feature and short films in the “biopic” genre. This year’s programme is dedicated to the life of the famous American inventor, Thomas Alva Edison.

THE WORLD FORUM for Direct Investment 2007 networking drinks reception & gala dinner was held at the Villa San Martino, 16th Century Bolognese stately home set in the hills above Bologna.

Bologna is nicknamed ‘La Grassa’ (the fat one) as the city is renowned for its fantastic and rich cuisine. From the famous spaghetti bolognese to Modena balsamic vinegar, from parmigiano reggiano to wonderful wines.

A special guided walking tour of the fascinating city of Bologna was arranged for the afternoon of Friday 8th June taking in the sites of:
